Wherever you live in East Falls, you’re within walking this spectacular natural resource. Explore our neck of the Wissahickon with dog & kid-friendly hikes from local trailheads. Free every month April thru October with the Local.

Back by popular demand: guided walks through the prettiest — and largest — green space in Philadelphia, right in our own backyard. Wisshickon Valley Park is 2,000+ acres featuring 70 wooded trails that can seem a little daunting at first.

No worries! We’ve broken our area down into 3 interlocking loops from nearby trailheads that you can follow yourself with our maps and info. Even better: come out with your neighbors for a different Wissahickon hike every month, and discover new sides to East Falls.

Mark your calendars…

SATURDAY WISSAHICKON WALKS:
April 28, Gypsy Lane: 4pm to 6pm
May 19, Henry Ave: 5pm to 8pm
June 16, Wissahickon Transfer Center: 6pm to 8pm
July 15, Gypsy Lane: 6pm to 8pm
August 18, Henry Ave: 5pm t0 7pm
September 15, Wissahickon Transfer Center: 4pm to 6pm
October 13, Gypsy Lane: 4pm to 6pm

All welcome — generally we follow gentle (frequently paved/gravel) paths that provide a mellow workout for all ages and abilities. However, some stretches can be a little muddy/rocky/hilly, and the weather can be hot so please use your own best judgement with kids, seniors, and dogs with challenges (you know who you are).

FYI: this group walk partners with NW Philly Pack Walk, so there will be leashed dogs walking with us who will likely be very happy to meet you if you’d like. If not, plenty of room to keep your distance.

Dress appropriately and bring water for all humans & canines in your party. Don’t forget tick protection!

KICKOFF HIKE: Saturday April 28: Meet 4pm at the parking lot on Gypsy Lane, off Lincoln Drive (across from the yellow “Wissahickon Hall” structure) for a loop that’ll follow above Lincoln and under Henry Avenue bridge through Historic Rittenhouse Town, and more.

Google map & more info at Events Calendar listing. Questions? Email us or chime in below. Hope to see you!

DOG OWNERS: NW Philly Pack Walk meets at McMichael Park every Sunday at 9:30 am for a 45 – 60 minute stroll around the neighborhood. Meet by the Turtle, register for updates.
