Alden Park’s a historic location that never gets old. With its rose-colored towers, Art Deco pool, and sprawling, landscaped grounds, it’s like something out of a movie or Vogue.
And the perfect backdrop for Jovan O’Connor’s special occasion designs!
High fashion in East Falls? You betcha. This Scotts Lane studio dresses celebrities in bold, beautiful garments that pop with luxurious prints and fabrics. We wrote about Jovan last year — she’s a PhillyU grad and Designer in Residence and blah blah blah… Long story short: she’s not just the real deal but she’s about the nicest person you could meet.
Which is why for some reason when we asked her set up a whole shoot and pay for a model and assemble interns etc for our Fashion Shoot at Alden Park article — she said yes! Now that we know all the work that went into these photos, wow. Thank you, Jovan!
On top of that, she’s also grown really fast since we interviewed her. These days, she splits her time between East Falls and Milan, Italy where she reconnects with contacts from her year as a student here in college. Jovan’s really into fabric, and searches high and low for the colors, prints, and textures that inspire her to create each collection.
The two outfits featured here are from this Summer’s collection featuring safari and African themes.
We hooked Jovan up with the best photographer we knew who could capture the vibe of Jovan’s looks, and the fantastical setting. Caity MacLeod (Captured By Caity) is East Falls Local’s popular Instagram, and a local events & portrait photographer with a creative side, too. We can’t thank Caity enough taking the time out to share her talent with us.
FASHION MODELS AT “MIAMI DAYS & NIGHTS“
Jovan O’Connor’s graceful fashions dazzled at Miami Days last July. This month, Jovan’s already working on her next collection, including a gorgeous floral kimono she “whipped up” for her birthday that’s inspiring new looks (and big smiles).
