His wife’s back in town. There’s a baby on the way. And two new artists at his shop. For Frequency Tattoo’s John Howie, life is expanding in all kinds of exciting directions.
Congratulations to Frequency Tattoo’s John Howie and his beautiful wife Dana Michael! Our favorite hipster couple announced what had already been whispered at their famous Labor Day bbq:
“So Dana and I are up to no good,” John posted to Facebook with a pic of them mugging and Dana with a big “BABY” across her belly. The new Howie is expected this April – until then, John’s doubling down on building his business with new talent and a great special this month: The Return of Flash Friday the 13th!
Any design off Frequency Tattoo’s “Friday the 13th” flash pages for $31 (no changes, legs & arms only)
Frequency runs this deal every Friday the 13th, and John’s glad to have extra help on-hand for the influx of customers this popular “event” brings. If you know you want to participate, it’s probably a good idea to plan your day ahead of time because it’s walk-ins only — first come, first served from 12pm to 8pm.
MEET THE ARTISTS OF FREQUENCY TATTOO:
John Howie (owner): John’s got a Fine Arts background, and has been working as an artist since 1996. After tattooing for a decade, he opened Frequency Tattoo on Ridge Avenue. Anna Henzy (2+ yrs): Anna graduated from Cab Calloway School of the Arts and uses her studies in zoology and botany to inform her designs. She enjoys combining client creativity with her own illustrative art. Anna’s Friday Flash on IG.
Justin Turkus (new guy #1): Justin has been tattooing professionally for 5 years. He tattoos in all styles, though recently his focus has been lettering, fine-line, and black & gray art inspired by nature and the supernatural. He started here in mid-July. Justin’s Instagram.
Robert Kraiza (new guy #2): Robert received a degree in animation from the Art Institute of Philadelphia and was an illustrator & fine artist for 10 years before he started tattooing. He’s shown in galleries across the country and is the co-director of the Philadelphia chapter of Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School.
